Eric Sandstrom is originally from Erie, Pennsylvania.  After graduating from High School in 1979, he went on to major in Film and Photography at Ithaca College in central New York State.  He began by assisting an established commercial photographer while a student at Ithaca, slowly developing his own style in photography.  Eric graduated from IC in 1983, and relocated to Washington, DC.  There, he pursued an internship with the non-profit environmental organization, Greenpeace.  As an intern, his responsibilities were wide-ranging.  There were lots of news articles to clip and errands to run, but eventually Greenpeace made use of his photography skills during several protest actions.  While beginning a career in the non-profit world, Eric also started to freelance his photography.  This new direction would put Eric in contact with many Washington-based photographers.  As his network expanded, so did his experience and skills.  Having worked in the Mid-Atlantic area for 20 years now, Eric can count many clients and has a resume of beautiful photography to look back on.  In 1992, he moved his family to West Virginia and has lived there ever since.  In 2003 and 2004, Eric traveled to Brazil.  These photographic expeditions have sparked a renewed interest in travel photography, and an exploration of different cultures is now a high priority for Eric.  No matter what the situation, you can count on Eric to handle it with dignity and with his characteristic good humor.
